Recently, the highly anticipated TR100 mining truck “fuel-to-electric” conversion project was successfully completed. This initiative successfully upgraded traditional fuel-powered mining trucks to pure electric drive, achieving dual breakthroughs in economic and environmental benefits, and providing a replicable success model for the green transformation of mining equipment.
Project Overview: A Transformative Shift from Fuel to Electricity
Spanning over four months, this conversion project comprehensively electrified two TR100 mining trucks. Centered on the core objectives of “cost reduction, efficiency enhancement, and green transformation,” the project overcame significant technical challenges in electrifying heavy-duty mining trucks, accumulating invaluable experience for the green upgrade of similar equipment.
Technical Breakthrough: Innovative Integration of an 800kWh Battery System
The project’s most significant technical achievement was the first-ever successful installation of an 800kWh high-capacity battery system on the TR100 model. The R&D team developed a comprehensive technical solution integrating “power system, control system, and structural layout” through precise vehicle blueprint mapping, ensuring seamless compatibility between the electric system and the original vehicle structure.
During the conversion process, the team adopted a “dual-track parallel construction with standardized tooling” strategy. The first vehicle served as a technical prototype, while the second followed standardized procedures. This approach ensured consistent conversion quality and laid the technical foundation for future rollouts.
Significant Outcomes: Comprehensive Enhancements Across Four Dimensions
In terms of economic benefits, operating costs have been significantly reduced from RMB 230 per hour to RMB 55, a decrease of 76%, resulting in annual savings of over RMB 1 million per unit. Simultaneously, maintenance costs have been reduced from 15 deep maintenance visits per year to 6 routine inspections, saving over RMB 90,000 annually.
Environmental benefits are outstanding, achieving zero-emission operation and reducing operating noise from 95 decibels to 75 decibels, complying with environmental regulations and improving the working environment.
Operating efficiency has been significantly improved; a 5-hour charge allows for over 15 hours of continuous operation, and energy replenishment is more convenient. Furthermore, through complete vehicle refurbishment, the addition of air conditioning, and cab upgrades, the equipment’s value and driving experience have been comprehensively enhanced.
The success of the TR100 mining truck “diesel-to-electric” project not only validates the technical feasibility of electrifying heavy-duty mining trucks but also demonstrates the dual value of green retrofits in both economic efficiency and environmental sustainability. This milestone marks the dawn of a new era of green and intelligent mining equipment.
