EVE Shines in New Energy Marine Power, Surpassing 1,000 Ship Installations Globally

Nov 12, 2025 | News & Events | 0 comments

As the global shipping industry accelerates its green transition, China’s new energy marine power sector has reached a significant milestone. EVE Lithium Energy, one of the earliest domestic companies to venture into marine power batteries, recently announced that its marine battery systems have achieved large-scale application. As of December 2023, EVE’s batteries have been installed on over 1,000 ships globally, with a domestic electric vessel adoption rate exceeding 50% and a total shipment scale surpassing 200 MWh.

EVE’s marine battery products have obtained certifications from leading international classification societies, including CCS, DNV, ABS, and BV. Their applications span a wide range of vessel types, such as scenic/urban cruise ships, passenger ferries, bulk carriers, container ships, offshore aquaculture platforms, and large oceangoing hybrid vessels, demonstrating strong market competitiveness.

Commercial Operation Breakthrough with the “Junlv”

On June 23, 2020, China’s first large pure battery-powered passenger ship, the “Junlv,” officially entered service in Wuhan. Equipped with a 2,270 kWh battery system, it can accommodate 300 passengers and operate for up to 8 hours on a single charge.

With zero emissions and low noise, it has become a benchmark for green inland waterway transportation.

“Pearl River Jadeite” Sets New Standards

On February 2, 2024, Guangzhou’s largest pure electric luxury cruise ship, the “Pearl River Jadeite,” successfully commenced operations. The ship is powered by EVE’s LF280K cells, which boast a cycle life of over 8,000 cycles and support a system lifespan of more than 10 years. To date, six pure electric passenger ships on the Pearl River night cruise route have adopted EVE’s battery solutions.

“Yungang Electric Tug No.1” Fills a Technological Gap

On August 16, 2021, China’s first pure electric tugboat, the “Yungang Electric Tug No.1,” was delivered in Lianyungang. With a 5,000 kWh battery system and a bollard pull of 48 tons, it can replace conventional 4,000-horsepower diesel tugboats, reducing carbon oxide emissions by approximately 900 tons annually and delivering significant environmental benefits.

Batch Delivery for Norwegian Aquaculture Vessels

Norwegian company Fjord Marine AS adopted EVE’s hybrid power system with liquid cooling technology for its salmon farming vessels. As of March 2024, EVE’s systems have been installed on over 240 vessels, with 35 MWh of battery capacity delivered, and additional batch orders are in production.

Green Transportation for the 2023 Asian Games

During the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, the pure electric cruise ships “Enbo” and “Nuanbo,” powered by EVE’s battery systems, served as transportation vessels. With a total battery capacity of 559.104 kWh and dual 55 kW propulsion motors, the ships achieved zero emissions while meeting long-range operational demands.
